 A Full Day with

Gary Small  PPA Certified, M.Photog., Cr.

Tuesday October 27th

Working in the RAW…

We've all heard the RAW vs. JPG arguments. Storage vs. cost, ease vs. control, convenience vs. extra work, etc. But what most people aren't aware of is how much information they are losing from their images when they shoot in Jpg, rather than shooting in RAW. It's like the difference between shooting film, and keeping the negatives, vs. shooting film, making proofs and throwing away the negatives!

For all those of you who still aren't convinced, or those of you who are, but are looking to get a handle on the entire process, Gary Small is here to show you how to properly work with, and process RAW files without tearing your hair out. Gary has been a professional photographer since 1979. He holds the PPA degrees of Master Photographer and Photographic Craftsman, as well as PPA Certification in photography and Electronic Imaging. Gary has been working with digital files since 1996. Yes that's over 13 years! Over that time, he has mastered the difficulties of Photoshop, color management and production workflow. He has been working with RAW files from the very beginning and has developed workflows for managing files from shooting assignments, as well as RAW production workflows. In this program, Gary intends to show you the life cycle of RAW files, as they move from the camera, into the computer, and on to the printer, or the web.

It's not as scary as you think!Using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Adobe Bridge, Camera Raw and Photoshop, Gary will demonstrate the differences and similarities within these powerful programs, show how they can work together and demonstrate the most efficient ways to get the most out of your RAW files, so you can get out from in front of the computer faster and back behind the camera quickly and easily.

Gary will also demonstrate how to use RAW file processing to aid in the retouching workflow, to get the most out of your files, with the least impact.

This will be an information-filled program not to be missed!
